For Life Coaches: Is Life Coaching No Longer Fun For You?

Saturday, February 6th, 2010

Many life coaches are terribly burned out on life coaching and afraid to admit it! Raise your hand if you’re experiencing this? Yes, you!

What started off as a promising career where you thought (and perhaps occasionally did) that you would have tons of fun and that you’d make tons of money, has spiraled into a yucky marketing/networking/etc that didn’t bring you any clients and even unsatisfying sessions with client(s) you once enjoyed. Financially, you’re no better than you were a year ago or 5 years ago! And now you’re just tired, so tired of it all. And yet, you know you love coaching in some primal way. So what to do?

The truth is that you have to, and crave to, get your mojo back, the excitement and freshness, but you can’t do it if you aren’t willing to STEP OUT for a while.

1. If it’s not fun anymore, take a vacation from coaching! Do something else for a while. Stop coaching!

Seriously, tell your clients that you are taking a vacation from coaching and are not sure when you’ll coach them again. Believe it or not, your clients will be that much more impressed with you. When you get back, you’ll both be fresh again.

If you still want to coach a little bit, tell your clients that you are raising your fee by 100%. That way you can weed out the clients who are willing to stick with you and pay you more. A lot of the burn out that we coaches experience is because we are not paid nearly enough for the amount of energy we put into our coaching. This is a great way to appreciate yourself more, and it sends a great message to others.

Get a regular job or go back to school to support yourself. It’s ok to go back to 9-5, even if you promised yourself you never would. A big part of what made life coaching so exciting is the promise that you will be self-employed and enjoying a relaxing schedule of your own making. But is that a reality or are you constantly worried about money? If it’s not, just admit it and realize that you’ll get there one day. Now is the time for something else. See #2.

2. What is fun for you? What’s fresh?

It’s MOST important to move on to doing what’s purely fun for you without any strings attached. Be kidlike and explore new options!

Whatever your budget, you will find fun things to do and think about if you direct yourself in that direction.

This is the time to grow and discover a new you. See #3.

3. Who do you want to become?

Write out some adjectives describing people you truly admire in almost that envious sort of way. Not admire like “Oh they are a good person” but admire as in “Man, I wish I was like her/him. They rock!”

Now, answer this question: How can I become that kind of energy? See what comes up for you.

Example: Maybe you’ll discover you want to take better care of your physical appearance because beauty inspires you. You can get excited about that and start doing research about how to go about it. You’ll see how easy it is to come up with moving ideas.

You’ll discover that you didn’t loose your joy for life after all. You still know how to be happy!

I hope this article has helped you! You’ll know when the right time is to go back to coaching because you will just HAVE to!!

ANSWER:

Dear Bob* ,

my sage advice in one word: RELAX!

We are all taught that our work situation depends on our skills and talents, our mental capacity, but that just isn’t true. The only thing that really matters in our finances and career is our vibration. When we’re happy and having fun, everything in our life works. When we worry, nothing does. Law of Attraction is THE LAW to pay attention to.

And the thing is, you’re worrying a lot! You’re worrying about the past, about your work, your school…. and about your worrying. That means that your vibration is very low, which means that you’re attracting many negative things in your life, because like attracts like.

The only thing you need to improve is your vibration, and the only way to do that is to decide to relax, have fun and let worries go.

Let your mantra be: More fun, less worry. More fun, less worry. More fun, less worry.

Make a list of things you enjoy doing for fun and do them more often. Watch movies, play soccer, read poetry, sleep, whatever is fun and easy for you. When a negative thought arises, let God (the Universe) handle it. The old wise saying, “Let go and let God” really works wonders for someone like you, someone who has been worrying a lot. It’s time for you to step aside and let go of trying to manage everything.

If you don’t believe me, try it out for a month. Simply make your only job to have fun, and let the universe take care of the rest. You will become happier, your vibration will rise, and as a result, you will be attracting better situations including better jobs and more money. And it will all come to you easily.

Another thing to think about is whether you even enjoy your work as a petroleum engineer. If you don’t, change it into a career you can really love. You are still very young, and you are beginning a NEW Life. Don’t waste it! This is your chance to create the life you always dreamed of.
Maybe in Afghanistan you couldn’t be your true self, but now you can. Now you can follow your genuine interests like, for example, taking acting classes because you always secretly wanted to be a famous actor, or business lessons because you always pictured yourself as a successful businessman. If money is short, find another way; do what you can with what you’ve got until more money comes- and it will! Let Canada be your new home and your new teacher; there’s a good reason why you moved to a different continent. CHANGE.

It would help you enormously to stop trying to act like a serious and responsible adult, and be a kid again (or maybe for the first time). Dream, nap, play, run.
Life is really fun when you let it be. But it’s your choice. The thing about life is that the stronger your intention to have fun, the more fun life becomes. It’s not an instantaneous process because YOU have to change, but life is really just a mirror of you. So if life right now seems all serious and full of pressure, it’s because You are serious and pressure yourself.

Another perk to having more fun is that it improves your brain function, focus, and attention. All the things you wanted to improve in the first place. But that’s just icing on the cake. The real gift is that you’ll be having fun!

I recommend you read “Ask and It is Given” by Abraham-Hicks. It will go more in-depth about Law of Attraction. You can also access more of my articles on my website: http://kissesandhearts.com

Are you looking for a job?

Friday, October 10th, 2008

The chances are, you are looking for a job, but every time you look at job offers on Craigslist.com or Monster.com, you feel nauseated because nothing fits you and most jobs you wouldn’t ever want to do. Then there are those jobs you just might be ok in, but they ask for requirements you don’t have.

ARRRGHHHHH!!! You think “Where are all the fun easy jobs?”

Here is LIFE LESSON #1: You have to create your own job and your own career, otherwise you’ll always be at the mercy of other people’s job offers that are never perfectly suited for you.

Frankly, the new energy demands it. Although the old world jobs still exist, they won’t for long. Trust me, all the fun easy jobs are the ones people created for themselves. Think of Walt Disney! And now all of humanity benefits from his courage and creativity.

And yes, it’s scary going out on your own, building your own perfect career, and then promoting yourself. Then again, even when applying for jobs, you have to promote yourself with your resume (a silly little paper which doesn’t say anything about you- not really).

Start living in the 21st century folks! This means that humanity can benefit from you only when you’re happy, but your job happiness is your responsibility. Please do not wait for someone else to do it for you.

“But how about money?” you ask. I’ll tell you! In the beginning, you may temporarily need to accept some silly Craiglist job in order to survive. But while you’re surviving, don’t judge your self-worth based on THAT job. Start creating your perfect career, and time will come when that will make you enough money.

LIFE LESSON #2: Do what you love and the money will come!

It will. You may not be able to control how quickly because there will be a lot to learn, but every step of the way, you will have the satisfaction of building something GENUINE.

Remember that story about 3 little pigs? What do you think the moral of the story was? Well, the moral was that when you build your house out of weak material, it will be destroyed. But when you build your house out of strong material, it will keep.

From an energetic viewpoint, “weak” material is something your heart is not into. “Strong” material is, of course, something that you genuinely love.

Ask yourself these questions about your current job or past jobs:

- Was I completely happy there?
- Was I completely free to express myself?
- Did I enjoy my schedule?
- Did I enjoy my environment?
- Did I love the people I worked with?

If the answers are NO to all or most questions, your job isn’t aligned with YOU. And because you are a dynamic being who is always changing, the only way to make sure your job changes with you is to create your own job.
